ChicagoMade Spotlight: Nan Warshaw – Co-Founder of Bloodshot Records

Looking ahead to SXSW 2015, we checked in with the Co-Founder and CEO of Bloodshot Records, Nan Warshaw at the Bloodshot Records headquarters in the Irving Park neighborhood of Chicago on what it means to be ChicagoMade.

Nan Warshaw co-founded Bloodshot Records in 1994.  Almost two decades and over 200 releases later, Nan continues to slog away at this scrappy indie label in order to work with bands she loves. Through Bloodshot, she is honored to have launched the careers of Ryan Adams, Neko Case, and Justin Townes Earle, and to have had a role model in the exceptionally prolific, hardworking and hard drinking Welsh-Mayor-of-Chicago, Jon Langford (Waco Brothers, Mekons, Pine Valley Cosmonauts, plus 50 more bands), who taught her she need not compromise her DIY punk ethics to work in the bowels of the music business.  Today Nan’s excited to be working new releases by  Murder By Death, Banditos, Cory Branan, and many more.
